Administration
Management of user groups
Winsurf Mainframe Access relies on the secure management of Windows NT's access rights. Winsurf Mainframe Access database is built and updated from the SAM database defining user groups and their access authorisations.

Management of communication services
Any connection is defined as a communication service whose features or characteristics are entirely present: connection type and parameters, terminal configuration, connection scripts, ergonomics customisation etc. All access services are stored and managed in Winsurf Mainframe Access's database.

Assigning access rights to user groups
The administrator can decide how the centrally configured communication services are made available.

These services might be publicly available to all users or limited to some, according to their previously defined membership to the user groups, therefore not affecting the network security organisation.
Depending on the profile defined by the administrator, users can then view the communication services available to them, and select the service(s) required.

Access to the administration service
Winsurf Mainframe Access database is the heart of the administration. It must be installed on Microsoft's Internet Information Server and may be administered by any NT administrator working on a Microsoft Internet Explorer station.

Easier development of Intranet applications
The integration of Winsurf Mainframe Access control
The Winsurf Mainframe Access control is embedded in an HTML page either in static or dynamic mode. With static mode, the kind of control integration (ActiveX or Plug-in) is predetermined while creating the login page. On the other hand, for the dynamic mode, the choice is related to the browser and the connected workstation. This detection is achieved by executing a script included in an ASP HTML page.

EHLLAPI and UVTI API
Winsurf Mainframe Access supports the IBM (EHLLAPI) and Bull UVTI compatible API, even the revamped versions are seamlessly integrated into an Intranet architecture.

Support of Intranet Connector
Winsurf Mainframe Access supports Intranet

Connector from S.cort. To quickly implement an Intranet solution, Intranet Connector offers an interface common to the various applications of the information systems). Two additional modes allow to run the Winsurf Mainframe Access emulations; a data mode to revamp existing applications and an on-the-fly real mode to convert directly into HTML.

System requirements
Server:

  • Pentium 120
  • 32Mb RAM
  • Windows NTS 4.0
  • MS IIS

Client:

  • Windows 3.11, 95 or NT
  • MS Internet Explorer 3.01 and above (3.02 for Windows 3.11 station) or Netscape Navigator /Communicator.

Provider specific interfaces (except for Telnet mode) like gateways and communication cards must first be installed and operational.
